Dorothy Donegan - Live at the King of France Tavern

Once a “lost” recording, this performance was captured sometime in 1978 at the King of France Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland. Dorothy’s career spanned seven decades and saw her performing alongside luminaries, such as: Lionel Hampton, Brook Benton, Clark Terry, Art Blakey and many others. A protege of Art Tatum, he once claimed that she was “the only woman that can make me practice”. Restored from a badly degraded cassette tape, the fidelity vacillates, however, the playing shines throughout!
