Inspired By San Antonio - Sabor a Mí
When I first met Daniel in 2009, we had a conversation about an album that would explore the sounds of our Latino friends and neighbors. San Antonio pianist/composer/arranger Tom Masinter was soon brought on board to provide his lush, dreamy arrangements of well-loved Latin standards. Over the course of the next year-and-a-half, Daniel’s passion project, Sabor a Mí, was born. Classics from Álvaro Carrillo, Ernesto Lecuona, Adolfo Utrera, Miguel Matamoros, and others, soon received the Kobialka touch in tandem with Tom’s tranquil interpretations. The first of many productions in Daniel’s newly built home studio, and also with Tom, Sabor a Mí was the beginning of Daniel’s massive output while in San Antonio. With the help of his life partner, Dr. Lilly Gardner, and her amazingly talented daughter at the design and identity helm, Ann Gardner, LiSem was given new life with Sabor a Mí.
